Le Opere di Salvatore Cimò

La collana si propone di raccogliere l’immenso e inestimabile patrimonio letterario che ci è stato lasciato in eredità da Padre Salvatore Cimò (San Giovanni Gemini, 1912 – Cibali di Catania, 1985), costituito dalle sue innumerevoli monografie magiche nelle quali sono stati raccolti e catalogati, in modo organico e sistematico, centinaia e centinaia di giochi di prestigio di ogni categoria, di ogni nazione e di ogni epoca e che, ancora oggi, fanno parte del repertorio professionale di molti illusionisti.

Padre Salvatore Cimò ha saputo coniugare, con grande entusiasmo e smisurata passione, la sua intensa attività apostolica (fu educatore e insegnante nei collegi dei Gesuiti) con l’Arte magica per la quale egli aveva sentito una forte attrazione sin da piccolo. Fu così che, nel corso della sua esistenza, egli riuscì a conciliare sapientemente gli esercizi spirituali, dettati dal suo ordine religioso (la Compagnia di Gesù), con gli esercizi tecnici propri della Prestigiazione.
Da grande studioso, e con un lavoro sistematico e certosino che ha davvero dell’incredibile, Padre Cimò aveva setacciato quanto la letteratura magica italiana (ma, soprattutto, straniera) poteva offrire ai suoi tempi, spaziando in ogni campo dell’illusionismo. Egli traduceva e compilava ogni cosa, per poi catalogare accuratamente tutto ciò che poteva risultare utile e interessante per il suo scopo, lasciando così una preziosa eredità alle diverse generazioni di appassionati prestigiatori.

Per rendere omaggio a questo straordinario Sacerdote-Mago-Scrittore e per onorare, soprattutto, la sua memoria, vengono riproposti, in accordo con i familiari di Padre Salvatore Cimò, alcuni dei tantissimi libri che egli ha scritto nel corso della sua vita. Molto impegno viene profuso nella preparazione di queste nuove edizioni ampliate e annotate. Infatti, il testo è stato completamente analizzato e corretto da eventuali inesattezze, lasciando inalterato lo stile originale dell’Autore; sono state anche aggiunte utili annotazioni per il lettore e sono state rese più chiare e leggibili le varie didascalie delle tantissime illustrazioni che corredano gli effetti descritti.
L’augurio è che gli appassionati prestigiatori comprendano l’importanza di tale maestosa opera, in quanto rappresenta un’opportunità davvero unica per accrescere la propria Cultura Magica attraverso l’apprendimento di innumerevoli effetti magici che spaziano in ogni settore dell’Illusionismo. Si tratta indubbiamente di un prezioso tesoro da consultare in qualsiasi momento (in quest’epoca, sommersa dal digitale, il libro cartaceo custodisce un fascino veramente insostituibile e i lettori di libri, grazie proprio alla “magia della lettura”, tengono viva la cultura, rappresentando, essi stessi, la memoria che illumina il futuro).
